The Mystery of the Hidden House by Enid Blyton

Jayden from Maple Class

The reason why I like this book is because of the mystery of the hidden house. Also beacuse of the suspense and the vocabulary (the language makes me want to read on).

What I do not like is the setting – and it does not give much description of the characters’ behaviours.

If I wrote this book, I would give more mystery and description of how the characters look (Bets, Larry, Daisy, Pip and Fatty).

I think you should get this book because I like the feeling of not knowing what’s going to hapen. The mystery is amazing and I think you should get this book because of how the characters get into trouble and outsmart a policeman.

Please get this book because you are definitely going to enjoy it!

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by JK Rowling

Harry Potter has sold more than 70000 copies in 48 hours. It has an equal amount of magic and love. It’s all about a young boy named Harry who got separated from his parents at a young age.

His mother, Lilly Potter, and his father, James Potter, sacrificed their lives for Harry so that he could live to defeat Voldermort.

From then on, he has lived with his cruel aunt and uncle(his only living relatives) with their son called Dudley. Suddenly, he finds out that he is a wizard. He saves the day with the help of his two friends, Ron and Hermione.

He faces Voldermort every year until the final battle when Voldermort … (SPOILER ALERT)…. perishes and he marries Ginny Weasley, has three children and lives happily ever after.

I would recommend this book to people over 7 years old because it has great vocabulary and it’s just fun to read!

Superman – Under the Red Sun

Shazeb from Kingfisher Class has been busy reading a marvellous book called: ‘Superman – Under the Red Sun” by Blake A. Hoena.

“I like the book because it shows how strong Superman really is. The book is about Superman fighting a super villian that is controlled by the red sun. I really enjoy action books. It meant that Superman has to go into space to fight. I cannot wait to see how he will be victorious!”

The Goldfish Boy by Lisa Thompson

Review by Diljot from Snapdragon Class

Matthew is a 9 year old boy who likes sparkling, clean surfaces, hates germs, going outside and feeling like a disappointment to his mum and dad.

When a toddler staying next door goes missing, Matthew finds himself at the centre of the mystery…

I like this book because I have never read a book of this genre and it gave a detailed background about the main character and his family. He likes to look out of his window and watch his neighbours.

I would recommend it to other Year 4, 5 and 6 children – it is a fantastic read! 5 stars
